Artificial Eye Implants

Losing an eye as a result of an infection or an injury is a very difficult and traumatic experience. However, with the technological advances at our disposal today, a prosthetic eye has never looked more realistic. Many patients we encounter wear artificial eyes with no problem for a long period of time, but occasionally undesirable side effects warrant surgical treatment.

Some issues arising from the use of a prosthetic eye are drooping lower and/or upper eyelids–a result of the weight of the prosthetic; a sunken-eye appearance; or a dislocation of the artificial eye itself within the socket, which may require replacement of the actual implant.

Eyelid & Facial Consultants aims to make every patient feel comfortable and secure. If you have any questions or concerns or would like more information, please call (504) 895-3223 to set up a consultation with one of our specialists.
