Dr. Austin Pharo is originally from Thibodaux, Louisiana and is a graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. He completed medical school at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Pharo then finished a one-year internship in internal medicine at the Ochsner Medical Center followed by a three-year residency in ophthalmology at the LSU Eye Center in New Orleans. Knowing prior to entering residency that he wanted to be an oculoplastic surgeon, Dr. Pharo’s mentors endorsed him across the country. He was accepted into a prestigious American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) accredited fellowship at Consultants in Ophthalmic and Facial Plastic Surgery, Beaumont Hospital and Detroit Medical Center in Michigan with Dr. Frank Nesi, one of the largest oculoplastics groups in the United States. In his two-year fellowship there, Dr. Pharo performed over 5000 surgeries across the full spectrum of oculoplastic surgery. As a part of his fellowship, he also trained with specialists in ENT and facial plastic surgery, dermatology, general plastic surgery, and neurosurgery.

Dr. Pharo is an expert in plastic, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids, orbit, midface, forehead and lacrimal system. He loves his work as an oculoplastic surgeon, as this specialty is a very unique and artistic field in medicine. He has extensive experience in laser skin-resurfacing and offers other non-surgical procedures for both cosmetic and functional needs. As an assistant professor at the LSU School of Medicine in the department of ophthalmology, Dr. Pharo enjoys and is committed to teaching the next generation of physicians and surgeons through lectures and clinical education.

Dr. Pharo lives in Metairie with his wife, Amanda, and son. He was born and raised in south Louisiana and is thrilled to be offering specialized care to those patients who previously did not have options close to home. He is committed to serving the great people of south Louisiana with conveniently located clinics across Louisiana: Lafayette, Thibodaux/Houma, the Northshore and New Orleans. In his free time, Dr. Pharo enjoys spending time with his family, flying airplanes, golfing, and anything that involves the ocean, painting, and cooking.
