Benign essential blepharospasm (BEB) is a disorder that causes the eyelids to uncontrollably blink and spasm in middle-aged adults. Over time, the spasms can progressively worsen to severely affect a patient’s vision.

There is no cure for BEB but botulinum toxin treatments can help alleviate symptoms for patients suffering from frequent blinking and spasms. Surgical procedures can also improve the condition in severe cases.
